Although originally private and exclusive, the golf course communities
in Charlotte became more reasonably-priced as demand grew. The original
golf course communities include the close-in Myers Park and Charlotte
Country Club with homes starting in the mid $500s. Luxury homes are
also available in the South Charlotte neighborhoods of Piper Glen, Seven Eagles, and Providence Country Club. South of NC 51
and US 521, the Ballantyne community offers upscale custom and tract-built
homes. Old Sycamore and Emerald Lake in East Charlotte offer
newer homes on a semi-private course that has been very popular. Carmel and Raintree are older South Charlotte communities that are perfect
for the budget-minded golfer.
North Mecklenburg's popular golf community, Highland Creek, will
have over 3,000 homes when completed with prices ranging from the low
$180's to the mid $500s. Play a P.B. Dye course specially designed for Northstone in Huntersville with prices starting in the low $300s.
Also in Huntersville, Birkdale is a 610 acre master-planned community
hosting the Arnold Palmer Championship with homes starting in the low
$300s. River Run is a private community with homes starting in
the mid $400s conveniently located near the town of Davidson. The Peninsula at Lake Norman is a community of custom built homes off Jetton Road starting
about $600,000 and featuring the LPGA tournament. The newest North Mecklenburg
community is The Point located off Brawley School Rd on Lake Norman,
It will feature over 900 homes starting in the $600's nestled around a
Greg Norman designed course. Homes wrapped around "The Divide" at Shannamara, located in nearby Union County, off Stephens Mill
Rd, features homes starting in the low 300's.
